Description

Understanding Museums introduces students to the purpose, operation, and experience of museums. Informed by regular readings, lectures, discussions, and encounters with various exhibition spaces, students will consider history, aesthetics, and the commonalities and differences among museums. They will explain why societies preserve and display objects and articulate how context informs interpretations and the appreciation of objects.
