Description
A course designed to prepare students in advanced professional nursing competencies of clinical judgment, communication, person-centered care, evidence-based practice, teamwork and collaboration, quality improvement, and informatics necessary to provide quality care to the maternal-child population. Students will gain knowledge of conditions affecting the maternal-child population. Students will focus on the nursing process and the roles and responsibilities of the professional nurse within the interprofessional team. Clinical experiences focus on individuals, families and groups within the maternal-child population and will occur in acute, outpatient, community-based, and simulated settings. Students completing this course will have entry-level professional nursing knowledge of maternal-child content areas. Pre-requisites: NRS 303, NRS 305, NRS 312, NRS 307, NRS 309, NRS 313 Co-requisites: None

Theory: 3 hr. per week
Practicum: 45 contact hours per semester
