Description
This course explores the framework of cognition, which represents mental processes of perception, memory, imagery, language, problem solving, reasoning, and decision-making. Topics include but are not limited to perspectives of: visual and auditory recognition; attention and consciousness; working and long-term memory; memory strategies and metacognition; semantic memory, schemas, and scripts; language production and comprehension; problem solving and creativity; deductive reasoning; and cognitive development throughout the lifespan. Upon successful completion of the course, students will identify and examine three characteristics of prototypes within general knowledge and present levels of categorization. Prerequisites: Completed PSY 333 with a grade of āCā or better.
