Description
Exploration of American educational thought and practice in historical, philosophical, political and legal perspectives. This course focuses on the art and profession of teaching. Students reflect on themselves as teachers in the current educational system, evaluate their personal philosophy of education, and explore their positions on major issues, concerns, and challenges facing schools today. Writing intensive. Open to students even if they have not been admitted to Teacher Education. Integrates a 20 hour K-12 school-based experience that realistically reflects the challenges and rewards of teaching. (Offered Fall and Spring)
