Description
As a bridge from computational mathematics to theoretical mathematics, this course focuses on discrete mathematical structures, their properties and applications. Students will study symbolic logic, basic set theory, mathematical induction and other methods of proof. Applications of these topics will be integrated throughout. Upon completion, students will be able to correctly employ the rules of symbolic logic, recognize and present valid logical arguments, and correctly use a variety of methods of proof. Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in UDMA 250, or departmental approval
