Description

The ecological crises facing humans at this moment in history requires us to engage in careful ethical analysis and philosophical reflection. This course guides students through an examination of the actions and patterns of thought that brought us to this point and challenges students to examine their own relationship to the natural world. By the end of the course, students will be able to explain the principal historical and philosophical developments contributing to current ecological crises, critically evaluate competing options for overcoming these problems, and creatively articulate their own conception of the proper relationship between humans and the nonhuman world.
