Industrial/Organizational Psychology (I/O) is the application of psychological principles and theories to the workplace. I/O Psychology is both a researched and applied subfield. This course will introduce students to practitioner models, methods of design, data collection techniques and measurements through exercises and case studies. Students will have opportunities to engage in problem-solving strategies through pre-assigned teams. By the end of this course, students will demonstrate competence in industrial psychology practices, including job design, performance evaluation, and employee development and apply organizational psychology concepts such as motivation, stress, worker well-being, group processes and team effectiveness to improve organizational outcomes. Completion of this course prepares students to translate psychological theory into evidence-based workplace solutions and communicate recommendations appropriate for applied professional settings.
