Description

This course explores the history of European theatre and theatre culture. Students will learn theatre topics from ancient Greece and Rome, through the High Middle Ages, to the emergence of the first professional theatres in Elizabethan England and Spain in the Golden Age. Upon successful completion of the courses, students will be able to identify major figures, approaches, and productions that have shaped the history of early Western theatre.
